Settings
Bank Settings
The settings in the bank module are specifically designed to support and optimize the banking functionality in your accounting system. Here you can customize the setup to suit your business needs and enable the features that are most relevant to your banking administration.
The options are divided into the following sections:
- General settings
- Clearing setup
- Clearing rules
- Dimension Setup
"Clearing setup", "Clearing rules" and "Dimension setup" are tabs that now also can be made available (October 2025 release) for users with the "Accountant"-role and not only the company's admin user. This access can be given in "Users" by the admin. "General settings" is only available for the company's admin user(s).
General settings
Under the general settings, you can configure the core parameters of the bank module. These define how notifications are handled, how payments are processed, and how data from your ERP system is used.
Payment Notifications
Enter an internal email address to receive notifications when a payment envelope fails or is rejected (e.g., due to bank issues or processing errors). This ensures you are always informed about unsuccessful payments.Payment Receipts
Specify an email address to receive receipts for payments where the remittance message exceeds 140 characters.
If a vendor has a specific “Payment Advice via Email” address defined in the ERP system, that address will be used instead for that vendor.Double Approval
Enable this setting to require two bank-authorized users to approve payments. This increases security and ensures proper control for large or sensitive transactions.Enable Partial Payments
Allows users to manually reduce the payment amount directly in the payment overview. Useful when, for instance, only a part of an invoice should be paid.Enable Cash Discounts
Activates cash discount functionality for payments and reconciliation. Discount rules are imported from your ERP system and applied when early-payment terms are available.Prefer Discounted Payments
When a discount is available, the system will automatically select the discounted payment date. This helps ensure that available discounts are not missed. Note that this setting is only relevant when “Enable cash discounts” is activated above.Validate Customer Cash Discounts
When enabled, the system will only auto-post cash discounts on customer payments that are received within the discount due date (with a tolerance of +3 days). Payments received after this period will not automatically qualify for the discount, ensuring that discounts are only granted when payment terms are actually met. Note that this setting is only relevant when "Enable cash discounts" is activated above.Payment Details
Uses static vendor payment details retrieved from your ERP system. Ensures accurate and consistent payment information under "Create payments" and prevents accidental alterations.Test Account
Enables the use of a test bank account. This is useful for training, demonstrations, or testing payment flows without executing real payments.Dimensions
Allows dimensions to be used when setting up accounts. Dimensions categorize transactions—for example by department or project—and support detailed reporting and analytics.Allow Bundling with Credit Notes
Allows open credit notes to be included when bundling payments. Credit note amounts automatically offset outstanding invoices from the same vendor, ensuring accurate settlement.Disable Bundling
Disables the automatic bundling of payments to the same vendor. By default, the system bundles multiple payments when the vendor, date, and currency match. Enabling this setting ensures that each payment is processed individually, even when these conditions are met. This setting is global for the whole 2CA application, but can be overridden for each vendor under Purchase Invoice → Vendor Setup.Show All Open Documents
Displays and allows processing of all open documents when creating payments, including entries imported from the ERP system. This provides a complete overview of all outstanding vendor transactions, not only those created in 2Click Accounting.

Clearing setup
In the clearing setup, you can define general ledger accounts for the following settlement types:
- Realized gain
- Realized loss
- Bank fees
- Cash discounts - Purchase
- Cash discounts - Sales

Realized gain
Defining a G/L account for realized gains is essential to maintain proper accounting for income from the sale of assets or other realized gains. This setup ensures precise distribution of revenue, separates it from other sources, and simplifies both analysis and reporting. In addition, it makes the audit process easier, as the gains are clearly separated in the accounts.
Realized loss
Similarly, with realised gains, it is also necessary to define a G/L account for realised loss. This makes it easier to identify, analyze, and report losses, and it ensures accurate and transparent accounting.
Bank fees
A bank fee G/L account is created to record costs associated with bank transactions. It ensures that bank charges are correctly identified and accounted for, providing a clear picture of the financial costs. This setup helps to separate bank fees from other expenses and facilitates both analysis, reporting and auditing of these costs.
Cash Discounts - Purchase
This G/L account is used when your company receives a cash discount on a vendor invoice.
The discount terms are defined in Vendor setup, and when a payment meets these terms, 2Click Accounting automatically posts the discount to this account during clearing.
This ensures that:
The discount is recorded correctly as a reduction of costs
The financial impact is placed on the correct G/L account
Vendor settlements remain accurate and audit-friendly
Cash Discounts - Sales
This G/L account is used when your company grants a cash discount to a customer on a sales invoice.
As with purchases, discount terms are defined in Customer setup, and if the customer’s payment qualifies for a discount, 2Click Accounting automatically posts the discount to this account during clearing.
This ensures that:
The discount is recorded correctly as a reduction of revenue
The posting lands on the appropriate G/L account
Customer settlements remain precise and transparent
Tolerance level for fx postings (%)
Administrators have the option to define tolerance levels for foreign exchange postings. By setting percentage values, you can set an acceptable level for variations in the transactions between different currencies, providing flexibility and control over the accounting processes. This level helps ensure that transactions remain within accepted limits and supports accurate accounting. That means that foreign exchange postings that exceed the set tolerance level will have to be posted manually.
How to set up tolerance for transactions
- Click on Bank in the menu and then select Settings.
- Find the Tolerance level fx postings (%) field.
- Enter a desired percentage for the tolerance level.
- Click Save.
Enabling automatic posting of bank fees and currency losses/gains
In the settings, you can also enable features that automate the posting of specific transactions:
- Posting of bank fees: The system automatically posts bank fees that are associated with the transactions.
- Posting of losses or gains: The system automatically posts currency losses or gains on deposits and withdrawals.
To enable automatic posting
- Click on Bank in the menu and then select Settings.
- Find the settings:
- Post bank fees automatically
- Post fx (foreign exchange) loss or gain automatically
- Auto post fx (foreign exchange) differences on unbalanced currencies
- Activate the desired function (active = green).
- Click Save.
Clearing rules in 2CA
Clearing rules are a useful tool that allows you to set up rules to automatically handle transactions based on text or transaction codes. These rules ensure that transactions are automatically posted to the correct account in your corporate bank, streamlining the accounting process and minimizing the risk of errors.
Example of a clearing rule
You can set up a transaction code rule that matches all transactions with the "INTR" (interest) code. All transactions related to this code will be automatically posted to the specified debit and credit accounts. This creates a streamlined and error-free accounting process, as the system automatically handles the transactions without manual intervention.
When you click on "Clearing Rules", you will get an overview of the clearing rules that are configured for your business. Each rule will contain at least either a debit or credit account, which is specified for proper posting.
How to edit a clearing rule
- Click the Edit button to the right of the clearing rule you wish to adjust.
